The Anticipation: Starting the Day with Details & First Look

As a wedding photographer, every wedding day begins with excitement & anticipation. For Sarah and Alex's wedding at Peek n' Peak, our team arrived early to shoot detail photos while everybody finalized their hair & makeup. When we were done, Sarah had a very emotional first look with her Dad and brothers — a moment of pure emotion as they saw Sarah in her wedding dress for the first time. There wasn't a dry eye in the room (me included)!

Intimate Moments: The Private Vow Reading

After the first look with her family, Sarah and Alex chose to have their own first look followed by a reading of their private vows. We made sure they had the perfect location for their first look (a.k.a. we moved all of the furniture out of the way). I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get choked up during the private vows. Something about them being together since they have been in high school struck a chord with me. I love private vows because they often produce some of the most genuine and moving photographs, and that was no different for Sarah & Alex. Watch their wedding film below to hear what I mean.

The Main Event: A Sun-Kissed Outdoor Ceremony

As guests gathered for the outdoor ceremony, I was in constant motion, capturing the anticipation in the air (literally, in the air: I was getting drone shots for the video pre-ceremony). The sunlight created a natural, warm glow that made every shot look dreamy, and the clouds in the sky were so puffy, it looked like you could jump on them. It was a beautiful wedding ceremony, with the "ring passing" ceremony proving to be an emotional highlight.

Creative Expression: Couple Portraits and Wedding Party Pics

Post-ceremony, it was time for the couple portraits and wedding party photos. We found a spot nearby with a stunning, wooded backdrop where we could take these photos. We also got to use some of the iconic Peek n’ Peak lodges with their beautiful vines as a backdrop for these images. When it comes to these types of photos, I’m always on the lookout for those candid, in-between moments that often make for great photos.

The Grand Finale: A Reception Full of Life

As the day transitioned into evening, the reception kicked off with high energy. My role shifted to being a silent observer, capturing the joy, laughter, and uninhibited dance moves. It's in these moments that I'm reminded why I love what I do – preserving the happiness and celebration of such a fun & memorable occasion.

Every wedding is unique, and Sarah and Alex's day at Peek n' Peak was no exception. As I packed up my gear at the end of the night, exhausted but exhilarated, I felt grateful for the opportunity to tell their love story through my lens.

Congrats to The Morgans!! 🤍
